Settling into your new surroundings can be thought of as a two-step process. 1) moving into your home and, 2) moving into the neighborhood.
Moving into your home consists of the activities related to making your new home habitable (unpacking, furnishing rooms, etc.). Unpacking can be accomplished in such a way as to provide life's necessities as you need them, while reducing the stress associated with moving.
Moving into the neighborhood consists of the activities associated with becoming familiar with and taking advantage of the important services your community has to offer. When undertaken in an orderly manner, discovering your neighborhood can be an adventure.
