Arkansas became the 25th US State in 1836. The state borders the Mississippi river on the east and is filled with notable geographic features like the Ozark & Ouachita mountain ranges in the north & west and thick forests & plains in the south east - referred to as the 'lowlands'. The land along the Mississippi is referred to as the 'Delta' of Arkansas.
Arkansas has a strong traditional agricultural economy of pultry, eggs, soybeans, cattle, cotton & rice. This is bolstered by an industrial sector including food processing, electric equipment, fabrication of metal, machinery & paper products.
